The Fat City Band is a 6 piece, high energy, jump swing blues, and New Orleans style R&B band. They’ve been writing and performing their our own music both locally and nationally for over 37 years. They currently have 5 cd’s on the market and are in the process of producing a 6th CD/DVD. Over the years The Fat City Band has shared the stage with the likes of B.B. King, Ray Charles, and James Brown and have had the good fortune to record with Allan Toussaint and Tommy Hambridge.
We have waited almost a full year to get this very upbeat swinging band into the Ganny- I am totally positive there will be tons of dancing, swinging, singing and ‘a swaying! Come on in and show these guys your stuff on the dance floor. Party!
This is only their 2nd appearance to the Cafe-Sure to be a fantastic and busy show… lucky us!
See you Friday!
Saturday September 29th
9:30-1:00
Most of you uncompromising Gansett folks know this is one of the most fun bands we have into the Cafe. Since the untimely passing of bass player, Michael Parrrish they have made the brave decision to move forward as a group. We are fortunate enough to have them back to the Cafe this Saturday with Nasty Habits and Miss Vicky’s brother Tom playing bass. We know you will love this band and the room will be on fire with fun!
See you Saturday!
Sunday September 30th
4:00-7:00
The East Coast Harmonica Throw down
featuring
Legendary Philadelphian Harp Master Steve Guyger
and
Cape Cod Legend Tall Richard with The East Coast Killers band.
Nova Scotia press from September of 2008 describes Tall Richards’ harmonica playing:
” LIKE A NEW ENGLAND SQUALL BLOWING SMOKE STACK LIGHTNING “
Tall Richard has been playing in bands of all configurations for almost 25 years and has really lived the life…”I consider my life blessed to have all these great memories and you know thousands of gigs have taken me and my fine bands from Nova Scotia to Key West and everywhere in between. I have performed in Bo Diddley’s band and shared the stage with the likes of Bettye LaVette, Coco Montoya, Johnny Winter, Duke Robillard, Ronnie Earl, Doug James, Dave Maxwell, Johnny Copeland, Sonny Rhodes, Joe Murphy, Johnny Hoy, Racky Thomas, Professor Harp, Rock Bottom, and many others.”
Steve Guyger toured with the late Jimmy Rogers for many years and has toured also with Mark Hummel, Louisiana Red, Otis Grande, Big Bill Morganfield, Paul Butterfields’ son, Gabe, and now with Tall Richard
I really believe this is another one of those ‘must not be missed blues moments’ a the Narragansett Cafe
Need I say More?
