BECKY CHACE
8:00-11:00
Hi All
If you were fortunate to catch Becky Chace step in with Dave Howard, Neal Vitullo and the Vipers for Sunday Blues a few weeks ago– you will know how fortunate we are to have her come into the Cafe for a Thursday night ‘Summer Series’ gig!
Chosen Best Female Vocalist 5 times by the readers of the Providence Phoenix Best Music Poll, Becky has been called “one of the most celebrated singer/songwriters to come out of the RI area.” Motif Magazine
Check out this video — verrry awesome!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1BSWzUPSmg&feature=player_embedded
“With her smoky voice and blues-laden guitar, Providence’s Becky Chace is a steamy cauldron of music, purveying the sort of countrified roots/folk rock that hits with a gritty, earthy edge. There’s an authenticity to Chace that makes her music captivating, and in the same breath makes her difficult to categorize: she’s a singer-songwriter who transcends a number of genres, pulling together common threads into solid music that commands a listeners’ attention.” Victor D. Infante Worcester Telegram and Gazette .
“Becky’s voice is an awesome blend of Melissa Etheridge and KD Lang, mix it up with a little Roy Orbison, and you’ve got one hell of a vocal treat.”
Soo, come on it to the Gansett for great food, cold concoctions and fabulous music this Thursday to kick off the Long weekend!
Friday May 24th
NEW YORK MINUTE
9:30-1:00
Since 1995 New York Minute Band has played local venues like The Narragansett Cafe and regionally, Dick’s Last Resort in Boston and The House of Blues on Sunset Strip in L.A. Also commercials and many special events. Band members are veteran performers of over 20 years. Billy Mitchell, (vocals, guitar, and harp) and Pat Smith (vocals, rhythm) sang with the a capella group, The Hudsons: David Furlong, (vocals, lead guitar) and Andy Webb (vocal, bass) were formerly with Three Legged Horse: John Lombardi (sax) and John Brough (drums) have been playing for years as well.
This band is a blast, waaaay fun and truly up on the stage exuding ‘let’s just have a great time tonight aura’ .New York Minute’s trademark is versatility. From classic rock to R & B, blues, oldies, and popular music, shows are full of energy, strong harmonies, superior musicianship and fun. These guys always get the room going…
See you for a night of dancing and fun!
Saturday May 25th
NASTY HABITS
9:30-1:00
These guys truly ROCK! NASTY HABITS plays Classic Rock & Roll form the 60’s.70’s and 80’s with influences from The Pretenders, Aretha Franklin, Bob Seagar. Bruce Springsteen, The Doors and many more!
Tony Longo, , ‘Miss Vicky’ Regine ,Mike Lamanna,Steve Madeiros and Alan Patterson really do have a super ridiculous , wild and crazy time on the stage and get the room going like wild! I have been personally afflicted by the ‘aura’ they personify! Their ability to get the Ganny going is LEGEND- great vocals,2 guitars, bass, harmonica drums and keyboards– ..See you on the dance floor!
Most of you uncompromising Gansett folks know this is one of the most fun bands we have into the Cafe. Since the untimely passing of bass player, Michael Parrrish they have made the brave decision to move forward as a group. We are fortunate enough to have them back to the Cafe this Saturday with Nasty Habits and Miss Vicky’s brother Tom playing bass. We know you will love this band and the room will be on fire with fun!
