This terrific band was named WINNER of the BEST COVER BAND in R.I. from The Phoenix! We were there to root them on and are very proud to have them back to the Gansett~!
The Smokin’ Toads is no stranger to the Cafe- for a very good reason- they ROCK! This Saturday, we are proud to present one of RI’s best bands and a Ganny favorite for the past 7 years, The SmokinToads. The SmokinToads is a talented and professional 4 piece rockin, party band consisting of: Joe Flori on bass guitar and vocals, Jim Pellitier on guitar and vocals, Russ (The Secret Weapon) Brissette on drums and vocals and Phil Pinault on guitar and guitar synthesizer. The Toads have an awesome sound and absolutely the best vocals and harmonies around these parts. Their versatile song list of classic and new rock is full of surprises and will keep you dancing from the first song to the last. (Definitely not your tired and overplayed song list.) Gritzbach has appeared at a wide variety of venues and Festivals across North America, from opening for B.B. King at or Eddie Money, to local nightclubs and Performing Arts Centers. He recently was featuring at the Newport Blues Cafe too. Reviewers have called Gritzbach a “sizzling hot, no holds barred electric bluesman” and “brash, tough, and a tantalizing cut below nasty”. A serious blues devotee who studied with the Rev. Gary Davis, Gritzbach caused a sensation when he first debuted on the New England Blues Scene.
