Head Chef – Narragansett Café
Good Eats at the Narragansett Café starts with our great chef—Mike Watson. Born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island, Mike graduated Central High School and served his country in the United States Air Force. Soon after his discharge from the USAF he entered the food service industry working in some of Rhode Island’s most popular and famous restaurants, including the venerable Coast Guard House, Casey’s and the Jamestown Oyster Bar.
In the spring of 2010, Mike joined the Narragansett Café. While the Ganny was well known for our live music and lively bar scene, we were relatively unknown as a destination for great food.
Mike took a small food service operation and built it into a full service pub-style restaurant. He cooks everything from bacon and eggs for our weekend breakfasts, to the island’s best NY Strip steaks in the evenings. He continually refines the menu to accommodate the desires of our loyal customers. That includes special dinner nights like our Wednesday Italian Nights. In the latest Best of Rhode Island survey, he was awarded Best Brunch in South County for our highly successful BLUES, BLOODIES & BRUNCH series. In addition he was nominated for Best Burger in the 2011–2014 Best of RI surveys.
